Interesting Facts About Fibrex®

Renewal by Andersen® replacement windows feature frames made of our exclusive Fibrex® material that features the best qualities of wood and vinyl frames. Here are some facts about this exceptional compound.

Interesting Facts About Fibrex®

Fibrex® Is Stronger Than Most Frame Materials

Fibrex is made of molecularly bonded wood fibers and polymer. This combination makes Fibrex much stronger than most window frames in the market. In addition to its durability, it has a low expansion and contraction rate that minimizes bowing and warping. It also lets us build narrower frames that allow  for bigger glass areas without sacrificing performance.

Fibrex Frames Do Not Have Insulated Cores

It’s fairly common for replacement windows to have insulated cores since materials like aluminum allow heat transfer, which leads to increased energy consumption. Fibrex eliminates the need for insulated cores thanks to its inherent insulation. Combined with our High-Performance™ Low-E4® glass packages, our energy-efficient replacement windows are ENERGY STAR®-certified to help you save on your energy consumption.

Fibrex Requires Virtually No Maintenance

Thanks to its polymer content, Fibrex frames require virtually no maintenance, on par with quality vinyl frames. All you need is a garden hose and a soft cloth to keep it clean. The factory-applied colors and finishes are guaranteed not to blister, crack or peel, which brings an end to repeated scraping and repainting. Also, our replacement windows have features that facilitate easy cleaning; our sliding windows have removable sashes while our double-hung windows can be easily tilted inwards.

Fibrex Is Responsibly Manufactured

Fibrex contains 40% reclaimed wood fiber by weight. These wood fibers are sourced from our parent company Andersen® Corporation’s wood manufacturing facilities. A lot of these wood pieces are too small to be used for other parts. Renewal by Andersen replacement windows have since achieved the highest SCS certified recycled content among other window replacement companies.
